Anthony Shagan is a self-taught New Yorker based in Miami. From childhood, the artist experimented with illustration, and moved to oil painting after being inspired to imitate master works by the work of Leonardo Da Vinci. The artist found his passion for portraiture sketching classmates. He was always seen with a sketchbook, capturing whatever he could. Portraiture is now the staple of his oil-based work, with an emphasis on use of space and bold color contrast to create his compositions.
